In December 1956 he married Millie, the love of his life. After the birth of their first son Jerry, Howard and Millie, along with his sister Carolyn and her husband Buddy, packed it up and moved to California. A master mechanic, he worked many jobs to get life started in California. Working for Armstrong Corp. in South Gate California 17 years until deciding to move to Lake Havasu City in 1979, working for McCulloch Corp. until closing their doors in 1999. He loved this desert and would show all who would venture with him by jeep what a beautiful place this is. He had a passion for reading and fishing. Howard is survived by his wife of 56 years, Millie; son, Jerry Sarver, of Lake Havasu City; daughter, Sherry Batson, of California; grandson, Jeremy Batson, of Lake Havasu City; sister, Carolyn Hudson and her husband Buddy, of Covina, Calif.; brothers, Richard Young and his wife Mary and Glen Young and his wife Joan, all of Huntington W.Va.; nieces, Robyn, Lisa, Debbie and Andi and his three musketeers, Frank Treadway, Burl Hines and Juan Benavides. He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Sarver and his grandson, Michael Sarver. Howard was respected and loved by all who knew him. A celebration of Howard’s life will take place Tuesday, Feb. 19, 11 a.m. at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home with a reception to follow at the Sarver home.
