John Thomas Harness, 75, of Kingman passed away on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013. He was born Nov. 11, 1937, to Lewis and Olive (Akins) Harness in Frederick, Okla. John moved to Arizona nine years ago.
John worked as a building contractor for 50 years. John was a lifetime member of Silver Arrow Bow hunters who loved to hunt and fish. John was an eight-year Marine Corps Reserve veteran. John was also an avid bowler. John attended College Park Baptist Church.
John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ada Harness; his mother, Sunshine Harness of Sacramento, Calif.; daughter, Lauren Schaefer of Santa Clarita, Calif.; a brother, Kirby Harness of Palos Verdes, Calif.; and two sisters, Loy Baxter of Sacramento and Sandy Lambeck of Porter Ranch, Calif. He is also survived by four grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Harness.
The funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m., Friday, Feb. 22, at Cornerstone Church, 1609 Barrington Ave., West Los Angeles, Calif. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1847 14th St., Santa Monica, Calif. Thoughts and condolences may be submitted to the family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.com.
