WIENS, Mary

(Maiden Name: Schmidt)

Kingman Daily Miner, Kingman, AZ - Published on February 20, 2013 >> Mary Wiens << Mary was born on Sept. 26, 1910, to Jacob and Margaretha Schmidt in Steinbach, Manitoba, Canada. Mary married Jake Wiens and came to the United States in 1932; she became a naturalized citizen in November of 1942. She was welcomed into glory on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013 at the age of 102 and now walks with Jesus. Mary gave her life to Jesus at an early age and was an avid prayer warrior all her life, always concerned that her loved one and friends would follow her to heaven through the blood of Jesus. Mary grew up on a farm, which gave her a love for growing anything and everything, and because of this she always had magnificent fruit and vegetable gardens until she was no longer able to get out and tend them. She moved to Kingman to live with her daughter in 2003. Mary was loved by all who knew her and was known as "Granny" to many. Mary was predeceased by her parents and all of her siblings. She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Frances Williams of Clovis, Calif.; her son, Floyd Wiens of Oakhurst, Calif.; her son, Lavern Wiens of Clovis; and daughter Joanne McClintock and her husband, Max, of Kingman. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 20 great-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. In her last months, she was cared for by the loving staff of the Kingman Regional Medical Center Hospice who came to her, meeting her every need. Mary has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to Kingman Regional Medical Center Hospice, 3269 Stockton Hill Road, Kingman, AZ 86409. There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 22, at Mountain View Cemetery, 1301 Stockton Hill Road. The service will be followed by a luncheon in the home of her daughter. Please RSVP to Joanne for the luncheon.
