Louise Parrish Holiday, also known as Asdzáá £ichí'í (Red Lady), was born in Tsinhíhiikaad (Trees Covered Mesa) and resided in the area of Kayenta, Arizona. She was Todichiinii diné (maternal), and born for Lók'aa' dine'é (paternal); Tsi'naajinii diné dashicheii (maternal grandfather), and Tabaha diné dashinalí (paternal grandfather). She passed on February 18, 2013 at 82 years-old in Flagstaff, Arizona.
She was married to Francis Jefferson Holiday, Sr. from Rough Rock, Arizona. Her parents were Fallas and Beverly Parrish from Kayenta, Arizona. Her siblings are Julius Parrish, Joe Parrish, Jane Colelay, and Janie Morgan; preceded siblings were Melvin Parrish, Nelson Parrish, and Edgar Parrish, Sr.
As a devoted Christian, she attended the Kayenta Bible Church and sang in the choir, as well as actively participating within the Kayenta community. She took her grandchildren with her to Bible Summer Camp in Flagstaff, Arizona and shared the teachings of the Lord and living a good life.
Louise traveled to Washington D.C. to attend the WWII Memorial on behalf of her late husband who was a war veteran. Louise was a skilled weaver. She enjoyed tending to livestock, the homeland, and providing family support. Louise had a great respect for the land and resources; she often planted corn and apricot trees at the summer home in Tsinhíhiikaad.
Louise’s surviving children are Gordon and Susan Holiday, Marjorie and Raul Mendoza, Marie Holiday, Marilyn Holiday, Maybelle Holiday Descheny, Delight Holiday Butler and Calvin Butler, Francis and Michelle Holiday, Rita and Aaron Tutt, Jacqueline Holiday and Julius Young II, Adrian and Sherree Holiday, and Marlon Holiday. She had 23 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchilden.
Funeral will be at the Flagstaff First Assembly of God at 3500 N. 4th St., Flagstaff, AZ on Friday, 10 AM.
