ALBRIGHT, Theresa (Pat)

Theresa "Pat" Albright passed away of complications related to a brain tumor on April 10, 2004, in Peoria, AZ. Pat was born March 26, 1926, in St. Joseph, MO., the 13th of 14 children of William B. Akin and Ida Mae Baldus Akin. In 1944, she married Jerry Walter Albright and they had one child, Barbara, in 1947. In 1959, the family relocated to Whittier, CA., where Jerry worked as a TV technician and Pat as a cashier for Albertson's Market. With early retirement in 1972, they purchased and operated Harbor Cove Resort in Big Bear, CA. Jerry died in 1983 and Pat returned to Whittier. In 1988, Pat met Dewaine Gilbertson of Welcome, MN. Together, they enjoyed square dancing and traveling. They eventually purchased a home in Ventana Lakes, AZ. Pat will be fondly remembered for her compassion and her ability to let everyone she met have a special place in her loving heart. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Barker-Krank, and son-in-law, Ray Krank, of Lomita, CA; grandson Kenneth (Ruth) Krank of Hollyglen, CA; granddaughters, Jennifer Krank (fiance Chad Bilbrey) of San Jose, CA, Laura (Grant) Lackey-Krank of Torrance, CA., Stephanie Krank of Brentwood, CA., and Briana Krank of Lomita, CA; and great-grandchildren, Donovan Lackey-Krank, and Zoe and Faith Krank. She will be missed by her brother, Vincent (Helen) Akin, and sisters, Marjorie Erwin, Helen (Ray) Michalek, Mercedes Rita (Monroe) Sandburg, and Carmen Cita Valcour. She is also remembered by Dewaine's children, Mary Jo (Michael) Kerekes and DeAnna Gilbertson and his grandchildren, Anthony, Lydia and Emily Kerekes. She was pre-deceased by her granddaughter Deborah Barker-Krank Rolison, brothers, W.F., Irwin, Edwin, and Robert Akin, and sisters Mary Louise Blackman, Virginia Luboski, Catherine and Rose Marie Akin. A memorial service was held Thursday April 15, 2004, at the Wayfarer's Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. Published in the Arizona Republic on 4/15/2004.
