Saturday, February 23, 2013
George John Morgan joined his Lord in Heaven on February 19, 2013 at his home in Camp Verde after a long battle with cancer. His wife and daughter were at his side when he passed.
He was formerly a long time resident of Hillsboro and Dallas, Oregon. George was born January 21, 1947 to George R and Helen S Morgan, who preceded him in death, as did his sister Nancy Fitzpatrick.
George enjoyed rock hunting, fishing in the Columbia River, bowling and restoring antique vehicles. His restoration pride and joy is a 1919 Karavan logging truck that he drove in many local parades and won awards in local truck shows. George was a heavy equipment operator by trade, but had enjoyed a wide variety of occupations over the years including sheriff’s deputy, pig farmer and private investigator. He was a Navy Sea Bee and served two tours in Vietnam in ‘66 & ‘67. George was a true gentleman, awesome husband, father and friend. He was always willing to help others any way he could.
George is survived by his wife Cathy, daughter Caren (Chris) Anderson of Camp Verde, son Gary (Kim) Morgan of Plainfield, IL, brother Tim (Cindy) Morgan of Olympia, WA, granddaughters Cayla Anderson of McMinnville, OR, and Courtney Anderson of Camp Verde, AZ, his great grandson Brantley Davis of McMinnville, OR and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial celebration will be held at the Camp Verde American Legion, 276 S. 3rd St., on March 2, 2013 at 1 PM.
