Ruth Means born October 5, 1923 in Afton, Iowa, passed away on December 26, 2010. The family moved to Arizona in 1956.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle, who was killed in a mining accident in Bisbee, Az. in 1965. Her youngest son, Reed, drowned in 1974 at age 19 during the flood season at Reddington Pass.
Following the death of her husband, Ruth graduated from the University of Arizona with Masters Degrees in Education and Counseling. Her four surviving children received Bachelor degrees from the U of A.
She is survived by Phillip Means of Los Angeles, Sheryl Dromgoole of Texas, Eric Means and Rebecca Simmons of Tucson.
Ruth worked as a teacher in Sells and Marana. Upon retirement, she entertained as Pie the Clown. Later, she worked locally and internationally as a ventriloquist. She was the author of three books which have been distributed in several countries.
Ruth has requested that her remains be donated to Life Legacy, in the hope that through her gift, others will experience a better life.
No memorial service is planned.
