The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 03/01/2013 Douglas R. “Buck” McKinney, 62, of Springerville died Feb. 18, 2013. A native Arizonan, Buck was born in Florence. He attended Arizona State University and graduated with a degree in Ag Business. He went on to a career in the Forest Service’s Southwestern Region, working on the Tonto, Apache/Sitgreaves and Gila National Forests as a Range Conservationist. Buck retired in 2006 and began living his dream of full-time competitive roping. He is survived by his sister, Sharon McKinney Hopkins; cousin Patty Dodd and his horse Blaze. Two services will be held for friends to celebrate his life, the first one is at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at the Jesus First Baptist Community Church, 138 N. Route 180 in Eagar and at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 10, a wake will be held at the Rode Inn, 242 E. Main Street in Springerville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Compassus, 1789 W.
