In loving memory of Joseph Edward Lightfoot, 75, resident of Snowflake passed away Jan. 4, 2013, at his home.
He was born Oct. 30, 1937, in Tularosa, N.M. He lived most of his life in California. In his early years after high school, he worked as a farrier, calf roper, bullrider and trained race horses in Southern California.
Later he worked in construction for 15 years as a plaster tender and a farrier on weekends. All his life he was a cowboy and horseman.
After retirement, he enjoyed trail riding and fishing. During his life he created many lasting friendships. He was loved by many. Always making people laugh and smile with his stories and jokes. He was always there to lend a helping hand to those in need.
In 2006, he, his wife and sons: Carl and Dane moved to Snowflake to spend the rest of his retirement years. He enjoyed years of visits from his California family and son from Tennessee to his ranch in Snowflake.
In the summer of 2012, he was diagnosed with untreatable lung cancer. During his last months he was continuously surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 22 years, Rikki; sons: Carl, William and Douglas; step-sons: Dane and Bret Fields; grandchildren: Autumn, Jolene-Lynn, Ruby-Lynn, Josh, Dougie, Chris, Jardon, Paiten (Junior, one on the way); great-grandchildren: Douglas Ford, Landen, Kylee.
Joseph donated his body to “Research For Life,” and then was cremated.
