Meldrum Mortuary & Crematory, Mesa, Arizona Margarita Oregel July 25, 1937 - February 19, 2013 Resided in Mesa, AZ Margarita Sierra Oregel was born on July 25, 1937 in El Guayabo, Mexico. She lived in a small and humble ranch house that had no running water. In El Guayabo, she met her future husband, Roberto Oregel Ortega. They married and lived off of the land, supporting themselves by raising livestock; goats, cows, chickens and selling their farm produce to others. From her early years, Margarita was a hard worker and proved herself to be a strong young woman. When Margarita was in her mid twenties, she and her husband opened up the first taco stand in Jacona, Michoacan. They sold "tacos de cabeza" or beef tacos. Margarita was instrumental in the success of their taco stand. Within a short time, they opened up their second stand in Zamora. Both businesses thrived and Margarita became quite the businesswoman known for her great tacos and salsa. In spite of their success in Jacona, Margarita and her husband took their 6 kids and left Mexico for the U.S. In the U.S. Margarita continued to work hard. In Los Angeles she worked in the downtown clothing factories and in the Central Valley she worked in the fruit crops. Margarita became politically active, and prided herself in participating in the Cesar Chavez marches to Sacramento. She also prided herself in being financially independent and in providing shelter, food, and clothing for her kids; this gave her great joy. During her last years, Margarita traveled to Arizona, California and Mexico spending time with her children, grand children, and extended family. She loved great cookouts during family gatherings. Any time there was music, she loved to dance and start the fiesta! Margarita insisted that on the day she would leave that we should embrace the day with a celebration and party commemorating her life, not her death. So in memory of Margarita Sierra Oregel--who taught us to be humble, strong, and to persevere whatever challenges we face. Salud y que viva la vida! She is survived by her daughters, Teresa, Alicia, Bertha, and Veronica, and by her sons Juan, Roberto, Andres, Ricardo, and Jorge. In addition, she is cherished and remembered by her grand children, great grand children, as well as great-great grand children. She is loved and will be remembered by us all. En corto tiempo, ellos abrieron un segundo puesto en Zamora. Ambos negocios prosperaron y Margarita se convirtió en una verdadera mujer de negocios, famosa por sus exquisitos tacos y salsa. A pesar de su éxito en Jacona, Margarita y su esposo tomaron a sus 6 hijos y partieron a los Estados Unidos. En los Estados Unidos, Margarita continuó trabajando muy duro. En Los Angeles ella trabajó en una fábrica de ropa ubicada en el centro de la ciudad, y también en la temporada de cosechas en el Valle de San Juaquin. Ella también participó en eventos políticos, y estaba muy orgullosa de haber sido parte de las marchas de Cesar Chavez a Sacramento. Ella también estaba orgullosa de ser económicamente independiente y de poder sustentar a sus hijos, dándoles todo lo que necesitaban. Esto la hacía muy feliz. Durante sus últimos años, Margarita viajó entre Arizona, California y México, pasando tiempo con sus hijos, nietos y familiares. Ella disfrutaba de las reuniones familiares y sobre todo de las comidas. ¡Siempre que había música, le gustaba bailar y comenzar la fiesta! Margarita siempre insistió en que el día en que ella nos dejara, teníamos que organizar una gran celebración y fiesta para conmemorar su vida, y no la muerte. Entonces en memoria de Margarita Sierra Oregel—quien nos enseñó a ser humildes, fuertes y perseverar en todos los desafíos que enfrentáremos-- ¡Salud y que viva la vida! Le sobreviven sus hijas Teresa, Alicia, Bertha, y Verónica, y sus hijos Juan, Roberto, Andrés, Ricardo, y Jorge. Además, ella es querida y recordada por sus nietos, bisnietos y tataranietos.
