Kathleen Francis Ward passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at Kingman Regional Medical Center, surrounded by family. She was 79.
Born Nov. 29, 1933, in Picher, Okla., she moved to Kingman in 1944. She was proud to represent Kingman High School as a majorette. She loved to hunt with her husband and sons. Her hobbies also included knitting, crocheting, gardening and cutting down the family Christmas tree.
In 1951, she married her true love, Rodman. She enjoyed a full social life with her family and friends, taking trips to the river and decorating a "food" Christmas tree for the animals up in the Hualapais.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Rodman L.; her brother, Bill Hicks; and her mother, Glee Wright.
She is survived by her five sons, Rod (Asa), Kenny and Larry (Donna) of Kingman, John (Cindy) of North Pole, Alaska, and Shawn of Royse City, Texas. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren, Billie, Rodman, Kenny, Bridget, Joshua, Stephanie, Sarah, Kathryn, Brittany and Kodey. Adding to the family tree are 18 great-grandchildren.
Kathy "Sis" is also survived by her brother, James E. Williams of Phoenix, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 8, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home, 1701 Sycamore Ave. The services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, also at Sutton's.
Graveside services will follow immediately at Mountain View Cemetery, 1301 Stockton Hill Road.
