SANDERS, Kenneth (Ken) Alton

Vistoso Funeral Home, Oro Valley, Arizona Kenneth Alton Sanders June 20, 1948 - February 16, 2013 Ken was born in Silver City, NM, but his family moved to Arizona in 1952. He grew up in Silver Bell and attended school in Marana where he graduated in 1966. He attended ASU and graduated in 1970 (BS in Radio-Television). Ken married Susan Richardson in 1970 and they had three sons. He worked briefly for the ASARCO mine in Silver Bell and then for Channel 10 in Phoenix before he moved his family to Massachusetts. He returned to Tucson in 2002 and married Maggy Burke in 2007. Ken volunteered several years at the Veteran's Hospital and made many friends there. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie (2009) and Eddie (Brown) Sanders (1982). He is survived by his wife, Maggy and her daughter, Bethany (Henry) Portugal, Jr.; his sons, Wade, Chad, and Rhett; his sister, Carol (Sanders) Nix; his uncle, Jerry Brown (who was raised with him as his brother); three grandchildren, three step grandchildren, and a large extended family.
