TANZER, Larry Thomas (Tanz)

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Tuesday, March 12, 2013 Larry Thomas Tanzer passed through our world to one that is promised on March 9, 2013, after a short illness. He was my love, my best friend and my husband, and as much as I wanted to help him through this transition, he was eager to go at it by himself. Larry was born in Chicago on Nov. 7, 1944, to Agnes and Matthew Tanzer. He loved everything about Chicago and even after years of living in Arizona he would say, "You can take the boy out of Chicago, but you can't take the Chicago out of the boy." Larry was an architect, a veteran, an ice hockey fan, a golfer, a loving father, husband and friend. His passing will leave a hole in the hearts of many. If he knew, he would be overcome with concern. He never knew how much he meant to others, nor did he recognize the love he garnered or generated. Larry is predeceased by his parents and his older brother Robert. He is survived by his sister Donna Tanzer; his wife Ellie; daughters Jennifer (Robert) Murphy and Jill (Ryan) McClain; stepson Ethan (Filza) Hall; stepdaughter Tamysen (Matthew) Malles; grandchildren Katelyn and Matthew Murphy, Maya and Luke McClain, Atiya, Laila, Dante and Gillian Hall and Miles Malles. Tanz, we all will miss you. We will celebrate your life at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Sunrise Funeral Home Chapel, 8167 E. Highway 69, in Prescott Valley, Ariz. Inurnment will be at a later date with full military honors at Prescott National Cemetery. Sign Larry's guestbook at www.sunrisefuneralhome.com. Sunrise Funeral Home assisted the family with final arrangements. Information provided by survivors.
