Donald Leland Rising, age 85, passed away March 9, 2013 at his home in Lake Havasu City surrounded by his family. He was born Jan. 27, 1928 to Merrill E. and Dora G. (Nally) Rising in Long Beach, Calif.
Donald was a resident of Lake Havasu City for 23 years. He loved riding his motorcycle, boating and water skiing. He received an award for being the oldest man in the 1992 Polar Bear Ski Run. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Army during WWII and U. S. Navy during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, JoAnne Rising, of Lake Havasu City; two daughters, Jill L. Rising, of Port Hueneme, Calif. and Merryll Ann Rising, of Riverside, Calif.; three grandchildren, James Brandon and Shannon E. Kelly, Mission Viejo, Calif. and Kyle I. Walls, Apple Valley, Calif.; four great-grandchildren, Mia R. Walls, Apple Valley, Calif., Chandler R. Walls, Apple Valley, Calif., Ethan J. Kelly, Mission Viejo, Calif., Lyla F. Kelly, Mission Viejo, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Merrill E. and Dora G. Rising and grandson, Wyatt Justin Walls.
A service and burial will take place March 21, 12:15 p.m. at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, Calif.
