Frances Irene Barber, age 87, a 36-year resident of Bullhead City, Ariz., area died on Monday, March 4, 2013, with her loving husband of almost 68 years holding her hand and many loving friends by her side.
She was born Frances Irene Hamlin on April 18, 1926 in Los Angeles, Calif.
Frances married the love of her life, John Allen Barber on July 1, 1945. John and Frances had many stories of their days in the Los Angeles area, both hard working and serving their God whole-souled.
She was a loving wife and mother. We all saw the loving relationship she had with John right down to the end. Theirs was a life long love. She wrote a poem for John when she was younger saying her teachers taught her to read, her Mom how to sew, "but all I know of dreams and love, I've learned, my dear, from you." She told John the first time he held her hand she knew she loved him. When our dear Frances was breathing her last breath, John made sure he was there, holding her hand.
They moved to Bullhead City in 1977 to help out the local congregation of Jehovah's Witness. They also managed several resorts including The Bullhead River Lodge for many years.
Frances had a wonderful listening ear and she had a unique no nonsense style of expressing herself that endeared you to her and made you laugh.
Frances is survived by her husband, John; son, Larry (Karen) Barber of Independence, Mo.; daughter, Nona Lee (Ike) Taylor of Tehachapi, Calif.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
John would like to thank the staff at W.A.R.M.C. for all their kindness and making it easy for all of their friends to be there for her.
Frances requested no memorial service, but asked that everyone spend some time in the Ministry for her. We all will be happy to do so.
