MCCOWAN, Frank


Parker Pioneer, Parker, AZ - Published on March 13, 2013 - Frank McCowan was born Feb. 18, 1951, to the late Morley McCowan and Seraphina Carter. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marion Joan McCowan; paternal grandparents, Maggie Thomas and George McCowan; maternal grandparents, James Carter, Lylah Patch and Arthur Sharp; sisters Claudia Evanston, Charlcia McCowan; brother, Corwin McCowan; and niece Angela Howard. Frank passed way Feb. 18, 2013. Frank attended Wallace and Le Pera Elementary Schools and Parker High School, where he graduated May 1970. Frank was into sports, he played basketball and football and ran track his four years at PHS. After graduation he moved to Oxnard, Calif., to further his education, where he met his true love, his wife Joan. They soon married, moved to Phoenix and started their family. In Phoenix, Frank worked as a machinist for Sperry-Rand and spent his free time with his family and playing basketball in the Phoenix area basketball leagues. Frank eventually moved this family to Parker, so his children could attend PHS, just like he did. Frank ended up working for BlueWater Resort & Casino, as a sous chef, where he made many friends. He is survived by his daughters Sarahjane (Don); Christina (Louis); Patricia Joy (Michael); Janice (Ruben); Mary and Linda; brothers, Calvin Evanston, Mayne Evanston, Cecil Dick III, Delwin McCowan, Morlan McCowan Sr.; sisters Ethelyn McCowan, Paula Evanston, Marla Jenkins, Georgina, Berdette, Lela and Vianne; 20 grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins. Services were held at Parker Funeral Home, Feb. 23, with subsequent wake at the CRIT Big House. He was not cremated in accordance with Mohave tradition, so that his remains could be laid to rest with his beloved wife Joan. The family would like to thank the Mohave Elders for allowing them to fulfill his final wishes.
