Thelma Nasser of Wickenburg passed away Feb. 23, four days shy of her 95th birthday.
Thelma was born Feb. 27, 1918 in Terre Haute, Ind.
She is survived by her sons and their wives Charles and Linda Nasser, and Edward and Laura Nasser; daughter Carol Welch; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchilden; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Thelma graduated in 1939 from St. Anthony’s School of Nursing and served as second lieutenant in the United States Army.
She married Charles Nasser, Sr. in August of 1941 and moved to Wickenburg in 1951 from Terre Haute.
She and her husband opened and ran both Charley’s Market and Charley’s Liquor Store in Wickenburg for many years. She continued to run them after his death in 1962.
In retirement, Thelma enjoyed spending time with family, long walks, crossword puzzles, and watching baseball.
She will be deeply missed.
Her children will host a celebration of life in her honor at 1 p.m. this Sunday (March 24) at Charley’s Steak House.
