SHERWOOD, Lois L.


Mohave Daily News, Mohave Valey, AZ - Published in Mohave Daily News Online from March 20 to March 27, 2013 - Lois L. Sherwood, age 95, passed on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 of complications from a hip replacement. She was born on March 28, 1917 in White Bead, Okla. She was the eldest of seven children. She and her husband, Herbert Sherwood, were married for 63 years upon his death in 2001. The family moved to Torrance, Calif. in May 1953, where she was employed for 28 years with the Torrance School District and remained as Secretary on the Board for the district's Credit Union until 2003. Upon moving to Fort Mohave, Ariz. in 2004, she had lived in the same home for 50 years. Lois was a member of Alpha Star Chapter #171, Order of the Eastern Star since 1967, and served as Worthy Matron. She was affiliated with Sunrise Chapter #60, Bullhead City, Ariz, in 2010 and was proud of her 56 years of service to the Order. After moving to Fort Mohave she started attending Mohave Valley United Methodist Church and enjoyed the church leaders and the friendships she made there. She is survived by son, Roy (Jeri) Sherwood of St. Charles, Mo.; daughter, Judie Leonard of Fort Mohave; two brothers; two sisters; two grandsons; four granddaughters; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the Mohave Valley United Methodist Church, assisted by the Order of the Eastern Star, 1593 Lipan Blvd., Fort Mohave, Ariz. .
