William H. Isaacson Jr. age 81, passed away July 30th, 2005, surrounded by family and friends.
"Bill", as he was affectionately called, was born on December 9th, 1923 in Hartford, Connecticut where he spent his childhood.
In 1944 he served his country as a navigator in the U.S. Air Force in WWII. While stationed at Williams Air Force Base, he preferred the Arizona climate, and when the war ended, he enrolled at ASU. Bill graduated from ASU with honors in 1947 and attended Harvard Law School, graduating in 1951. Bill returned to Arizona to raise his family.
He resided in Mesa from 1952 to 1962 while he was married to Vera Campbell, during which time he had two daughters, Gayle and Linda, and worked as a CPA.
In 1963 he moved to Phoenix and worked as a Vice-President at Valley National Bank directing the Tax Department. He was an active member of Toastmasters and a member of Mensa. In 1967 he married Marian Lenore Attrich and they have continued to live in the Phoenix area.
In 1970 Bill joined Lewis and Roca Law Firm heading the Tax Department. During the 1980's, William H. Isaacson was considered the foremost estate planning attorney in Arizona, and was listed in Who's Who in America.
He retired from Lewis and Roca in 1988 and went into limited practice until 1994 when he retired permanently.
Bill is survived by his wife Lenore Isaacson, brothers, Carl Isaacson from Sierra Vista and Harold Isaacson from Prescott, his daughters, Gwendolyn Gayle from Houston, TX and Linda Gibbons from Gilbert, AZ., along with seven grandchildren and 4 1/2 great-grandchildren.
His funeral will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 3rd, 2005, at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 East Indian School Rd., with Visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M.
Graveside Service with Military Honors will follow at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 North Cave Creek Road. Donations can be made to Odyssey Hospice, 202 East Earll Dr. Suite 160, Phoenix, AZ 85012.
