Meldrum Mortuary & Crematory, Mesa, Arizona William Ernest Johnson December 21, 1938 ~ March 17, 2013 William Ernest Johnson, 74, of Phoenix, AZ passed away March 17, 2013. William was born December 21, 1938 in Phoenix, AZ to Carl William and Merle Irene Jensen. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald Ray Johnson. William is survived by his loving spouse of 53 years, Linda Jean Shields Johnson, and their children: Mark, Michael, James, Karen, William, Daniel, Paul, Samuel and Thomas; his siblings: Carl, Carol and Richard; 14 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. William graduated from West Phoenix High School in 1957 and later served in the United States Navy as an Engineman, 2nd Class. He retired from Southern Truck. William was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed being a part of the Boy Scouts of America and the US Naval Reserve. He also enjoyed art, woodworking, cars and his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and was loved by all his family and friends. He will be greatly missed. A funeral service for William will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4601 W. Encanto Blvd., Phoenix, with a viewing prior at 9:30 AM.
