FANT, Barbara E. (Barb)


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona Wednesday, March 27, 2013 Barbara E. Fant, 52 of Morristown and formerly of Sycamore, Ill., and Genoa, Ill., passed away peacefully Saturday (March 23) at home after a brief and courageous battle with lung cancer. Born Jan. 16, 1961 in Sycamore, Ill., she was the daughter of Harold K. Fant and Helen E. (Wing, Fant) O’Neil. Barb graduated from Genoa-Kingston High School in 1979. Barbie was a waitress most her life, working at various places: The Huddle Inn in Genoa, Ill., a family owned business; The Junction Eating Place in DeKalb, Ill.; Marion’s Coffee Shop in Sycamore, Ill.; Harold’s Corral in Cave Creek, Ariz.; and at Saguaro Lake in Arizona. Most recently, she worked at Morristown Elementary School, where she loved talking to all of the kids and sneaking kisses to her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband Bill Southern; daughters Amanda Fant and Mikayla Southern; and beloved grandchildren Dyllon and Chandra Ruport (Fant), all of Morristown; her siblings Judy (Ernie) McGee of Sycamore, Ill., Janet (Mike) Marquardt, Roger Fant and Linette (Tommy) Pillion, all of DeKalb, Ill.; sister-in-law Brenda Fant of Ashton, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews and great- nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Harold K. Fant, her mother and stepfather Helen and Gene O’Neil, and nephew Richard Fant. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday, March 27) at David’s Desert Chapel Funeral Home, 325 W. Yavapai St. in Wickenburg, and a memorial service will also be held in Illinois.
