Gary Lee Girton, 59, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2013, in Lake Havasu City. He was born on April 21, 1953, in San Bernardino, Calif. to Louis C. and Edith E. (Mulcahy) Girton.
Gary grew up in Indio, Calif., graduating from Indio High School and attended College of the Desert in Palm Desert, Calif. He was an auto mechanic by trade. In 1977 he moved to Ukiah, Calif., to be near family and learned to be a restaurant cook until his health started to fail. It was in Ukiah that he met Judy Clark, his partner for over 25 years.
In 2001, they moved to Lake Havasu City, where he lived until his passing. Although Gary was a big man, he was a softie at heart. He loved all animals and he always had a dog or a cat throughout his lifetime.
Gary is survived by his mother, Edith Walden; sister, Gayle (Rick) Gilpin, both of Lake Havasu City; nephew, Jonathan DeVoist of Petaluma, Calif.; niece, Lori DeVoist of Eureka, Calif.; numerous cousins; partner, Judy Clark and her sons, Christerfer (Jessica) Clark of Lake Havasu City, Richard (JoEllen) Clark of Fallon, Nev., and Andrew (Christina) Clark of Watertown, S.D.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 29, 2013, at Church of Christ, 2001 N. Palo Verde Blvd. in Lake Havasu City. Private Interment will take place on Monday, April 1, 2013, at Mountain View Cemetery in San Bernardino, Calif.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lake Havasu Museum of History, 320 London Bridge Road, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403 in memory of Gary Girton.
