Silver Creek Mortuary, Taylor, Arizona Eunice M. Halsted McQuiston (June 24, 1939 - March 22, 2013) Eunice M. Halsted McQuiston, 73, passed away at her home in Snowflake Arizona on March 22, 2013. She was born June 24, 1939 in Gary Indiana to James M. Halsted and Eileen A. Hamann Halsted. She had one brother James M. Halsted and one Sister Gail Halsted. Eunice grew up in Merrillville, IN. Moved to Arizona in 1964 to live in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Payson and retired in Snowflake, Arizona. Eunice graduated High school in Merrillville, Indiana class of 1957; and then attended Business College in Gary, Indiana, later was a graduate of Long Medical Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. She worked in accounting and retail sales. She had many hobbies which included crocheting, button collecting, thimble collecting, deco art painting, and most recent, rock hounding with special interest in fluorescent minerals (ordinary to extraordinary). She was a part of the White Mountain Gem and Mineral Club. Eunice is survived by Son: Walter Heubel of Phoenix, AZ and Daniel (Bonnie) Heubel of Payson, AZ.; Step granddaughters: Chelsie and Kristie; five Great-grandkids; Sister –in- law: Jeanne Halsted; nephew: Rob (Stacey) Halsted; nieces Arlene (Chris) Halsted Fox and Tracey (Jesse) Halsted Gonzales and their children; Aunts Doris Hamann Wirick of Indiana and Jean Hamann McCollum of Illinois and many cousins. Eunice is preceded in death by her Husband: Fredrick L. McQuiston of 20 years; Son Timothy James Heubel; Brother Jim “Monty” Halsted and sister, Gail Halsted; and both Parents. A Memorial service will be held at a later date in the meadow on Escudilla Mountain east of Springerville.
