Joseph Blaine Cosay, “Little Joe,” entered into rest April 4, 2013, in Whiteriver. He was born Oct. 28, 1984, at the Whiteriver Indian Health Center. He resided on the White Mountain Apache Reservation all his life. He attended Whiteriver Head Start and 12 years at Whiteriver schools.
Joseph Blaine was an honor student and received citizenship awards. He loved his tradition and participated in crown dancing. Joseph’s traditional name is Crown Dancer Walking on Water. He received his traditional name from his late grandpa Ryan Burnette. During his youth years, he played basketball and football. He loved the outdoors, fishing and drawing. Joseph graduated from Alchesay High School in 2003. After high school, he worked for Show Low Construction as a gernie and roller operator for two seasons. Joseph loved singing traditional songs and talking with people. He’s going to be truly missed and Joseph has left so many memories.
Joseph is survived by his son Montee Javier Cosay; mother Mary Lupe; father Bennett Cosay; sisters Kayleigh Cosay and Brittany Cosay; niece Gabby Cosay; grandparents Eugene Sr. and Myra Cosay; nana Charlene Lupe and many relatives and friends.
Joseph‘s body was brought home to his residence April 8 for a one-night wake at 5209 N. Third St. in North Fork. Funeral services was held April 9 at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Whiteriver, officiated by Father Ed Fronske. Interment was at the Golden Gorge Cemetery in North Fork.
