SIMON, Monica

(Maiden Name: Bajhart)

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Thursday, April 11, 2013 Monica Simon, 55, of Prescott, Ariz. left this earth to be with Jesus on Tuesday, April 9, 2013. She was born July 11, 1957 in Los Angeles, Calif. to Anton and Maria Bajhart, who had immigrated from Europe. She was the only daughter of the four children. After graduating high school, she attended cosmetology school. She never stopped working as a cosmetologist after obtaining her license, 36 years prior. She owned and managed The Cutting Edge Salon in Prescott since 1997. Along with her talented staff, she won Best Hair Salon of Prescott, by Best of Surveys, nine times. She was wed to the love of her life, Robert Simon on Aug. 15, 1981. Together they raised their three daughters, whom they loved, in the knowledge and love of Jesus. As a girl, Monica fell in love with nature on her various camping trips to Yosemite and King's Canyon in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. She never lost her love of nature. She enjoyed hiking, especially in Sedona where she felt in awe at the creation of God. She would often explain that her job was her calling. She didn't just help beautify people. She was a chaplain, therapist and friend to all who sat in the chair at her salon. The stylists at her salon were not just business associates. They were her friends and her family. Monica is survived by her mother Maria; her husband Robert; and her daughters, Rachel Ann Simon Rose (William), Brianna Simon and Brittany Simon. She is also survived by her brothers, Anton Bajhart (Marjorie), Frank Bajhart (Anke) and Alfred Bajhart (Deborah); as well as all of her beloved nieces and nephews. A celebration of Monica's life will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, 2013, at The Heights Church, 2121 Larry Caldwell Drive in Prescott.
