Lloyd W. Sunnarborg , of Esko and Praire Lake born July 30, 1926 to John and Fanny (Carlson) Sunnarborg, in Thompson Township ( Esko)
Graduated Lincoln High School, 1945, joined the U.S. Marine Corp; Pvt 1st Class honorable discharge Oct 31, 1946, was a longtime member of the Esko Volunteer Fire Dept., certified Minnesota State snowmobile safety instructor.
Married M. Lorraine Merfeld of Cloquet, September 4, 1948
He drilled water wells with his father, before going to work for Northwest Paper (Potlatch) as a blacksmith, where he retired in 1978, to restart Sunnarborg Well Drilling with his son. The outdoors was his church, fishing the world over and hunting at the “Great Silence”, the wind at my back, the crunch in the forest, babbling of the brook, spray of the sea.; Lord take me by your side and guide my path to your great peace. A Master Angler of the Province of Manitoba since 1967.
He sold Skiroule snowmobiles out of the garage with brother Ken and brother-in-law Ernie. He worked hard and played hard. When arthritis got the best of him, he spent 35 winters in Arizona and summers on Prairie Lake.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Clarence, Fred, Johnnie,Martin and Kenneth, sisters Gladys Hendrickson, Doris Santerre, and Betsy Mills
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Lorraine, his children Craig (Judy) of Esko, Gale (Ron) Graves, AZ, grandchildren Heath (Gayle) and Desiree (Tony) Deleon, great grandchildren Stone, Dea, Heath Jr, and Easton, sisters Mildred Juntunen, Alice Michaelson, and Lorraine (Lola) McKibbon, brother /sister-in-law Leonard and Louise Goodell of Grand Marais and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
There will be no services, Lloyd has donated his body to Science Care of Arizona.
