The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Monday, April 15, 2013 Harriet Anne Hotsenpiller Harriet was born on May 16, 1926, in Stanhope, Iowa, to Einar and Marion Sorlie. She was raised on a Wisconsin farm where she learned how to milk cows. She graduated from North Park Jr. College in Chicago and later from Northern Illinois University. She taught all grades (K-8) in a one-room schoolhouse in Hudson, S.D. She married Jack Hotsenpiller on June 12, 1948. Together they had five children, Mark (Patrick), Kent, Susan Laude (Rene), Nancy Krane and Dan (Kaye). They welcomed 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She and Jack lived in Elgin, Ill., where she taught kindergarten for some 20 years. Upon retirement in 1984, they moved to Prescott, Ariz. There, she loved to hike with the Pine Lake hikers. She hiked the Grand Canyon on two different occasions. She was active in the Methodist Church serving a term as Chair of the West District United Methodist Women. She helped start a Sunday school class for developmentally challenged teenagers. She attended training to be a Stephen Minister and helped organize the program here in Prescott UMC. She was a caring person who loved talking to and sharing with others. She died on April 13, 2013. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2013, at the Prescott United Methodist Church.
