Irma Geraldine Richins Harris, On July 26, 2004, at the age of 78 years old, Irma was called home by her Heavenly Father. She had struggled several years with diabetes and other medical problems. On May 26th she received a quadruple bypass. All of this was too much.
Irma was born on January 30, 1926, at home at 255 E. 1st Ave. in Mesa and lived there until she married Russell Harris. She attended Lincoln, Irving, and Mesa High.
During WW II Russ served in a submarine in the Pacific.
Following the war they lived in Phoenix for 56 years. Irma served faithfully in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as a Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society Teacher and also as a member of the Stake Relief Society Board, and Ward Relief Society President.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wellington and Edith Mortensen Richins; sister Cleone and husband Bernard Magnusson; and great granddaughter Dempsey Burdick. She is survived by her husband Russell E. Harris, Sr.; Sons Russell (Julie) Harris, Jr. and Kenneth (Elizabeth) Harris; Daughters Linda (Richard) Johnson and Susan (Russell) Burdick. Also 9 grandsons, 6 married; 11 granddaughters, 9 married; 20 great grandchildren.
Irma worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Cyril Foutz when needed. She had many talents and skills and taught these to many ladies. She won dozens of blue ribbons at the State Fair for her candy, pies, quilts, etc. A viewing will be held on Friday, July 30th at Meldrum Mortuary, 52 N. Macdonald, Mesa from 6 - 8 p.m. A viewing will be held 1 hour prior to the funeral services, which will begin at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, July 31, 2004, at the L.D.S. Church on 2nd Avenue,
across from the Temple.
Interment at City of Mesa Cemetery, 1212 N.
Center, Mesa immediately following the service.
