JONES, Sandra

(Maiden Name: Blazzard)

Sandra Blazzard Jones, the best wife, mother, and grandmother a family could ask for, passed away at home in Mesa on Sunday June 3, 2007 in the morning light surrounded in love by her family. Sandra was born in Bisbee, AZ on May 1, 1958 and was the middle of five children. She spent her childhood in St. George, Utah until at 16 her family relocated to Tempe, AZ. In 1977 she married her best friend and eternal companion Reid Jones in the Mesa Arizona Temple. Sandra had a wonderful childhood with her parents and then another wonderful childhood raising her children. She raised five daughters and one son whom she taught by example to give service and always choose the right. Each of her six children was loved and advocated for as if they were her only child. Sandra spent her life serving her family, those around her and the Lord. She still found time to spend in her flower gardens which are extensive and beautiful. She was a great leader and teacher and emanated the Saviors love so all wanted to be around her. She knew how to have fun earning her the nickname Grandma Funk. Sandra was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2004 and shortly after her son Daniel was diagnosed with Leukemia. They then relapsed together almost two years later in August of 2006. In this trial they developed a special bond. They are now together again in the loving presence of our Savior Jesus Christ. Sandra has a strong testimony that her Heavenly Father and Savior love her and of the plan of happiness. She stood as a witness at all times, in all things, and in all places. She knows she will be with her family again for eternity. She and Daniel are now enjoying the blessings that come from a life of obedience to our Heavenly Father's gospel. She is survived by her husband, Reid; daughters, Emily Jones, Amanda Porter (Lee), Laura Fletcher (Devin), Julia, and Annie; granddaughters, Eden and Delia Porter; and parents, Max and Mae Blazzard. Her parents-in-law, Donald and Ione Jones are deceased. She was buried in Emery, AZ next to her son Daniel on June 5, 2007. Memorial Services were held on Saturday, June 9, 2007 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 1266 S. 32nd St., Mesa just south of Southern. An account has been set up for Annie Jones Benefit Fund at Bank of America where donations can be made. (acct#457005379237) Published in the East Valley Tribune on 6/6/2007.
