Dorthy May Slayton
(June 12, 1923 - April 21, 2013)
Dorthy Slayton passed away on April 21, 2013. She was born on a small farm outside of Flagstaff in 1923.
In 1943 she left her parents farm and purchased a ranch with her husband Paul. They met the challenges of ranching life together with courage and dedication. Snow storms, drought and washed out roads made them strong and resourceful.
Later Dorthy became an Avon lady, traveling rural roads so that she and her friends could exchange gossip, recipes and makeup. Her Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations continue to make her family smile. After moving into Flagstaff, she remained active, making new friends enjoying her family.
She is survived by her children, Elaine Wolfe (Larry), Richard Slayton, Janice Jansen (Darold), Barbara Ballentine (Steve) and Gayle Nessmith (Jim), 12 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Many thanks to the Heritage House for the care and comfort they provided.
{Note: Parents were Claude Smith and Maude L. Hubbard per AZ Birth Certificate}
