News-Herald (Wickenburg AZ) Saturday, February 8, 1902, p 2:2 Saturday night at the Indian school occurred the death of L E Hoffman, one of the best known and most popular of the newspaper men of this city. Death came as the end of the most heroic fight for life ever witnessed. Mr Hoffman was for some time past a sufferer from that dread disease, consumption. Prior to his coming to Phoenix Mr Hoffman was employed by the Star and World of Kansas City. His funeral was held at 2 o'clock from the Presbyterian church. He leaves to mourn his loss, besides a large circle of friends, a wife and son, to whom the sympathy of the entire community is extended in this their hour of sorrow.--Enterprise
