WEBB, Iva

(Maiden Name: Hatch)

Iva Hatch Webb passed into the "other room" on April 23, 2004. She was born on April 17, 1922 to Ralph and Ida Hatch in Taylor, Arizona. She was the oldest of 7 children and the only girl in a houseful of brothers. She was preceded in death by 4 of those brothers, Cliborne, Bobby, Coy and Charles, her parents, and Willard Lee Crook, her first love and father to her three surviving daughters, Virginia Hartnett (Tom), Judy Thompson (Bill) and Marilyn Webb (Loran), all of Mesa. Also surviving her is the second love of her life, Allen K. Webb, devoted husband and companion of 40 years, 3 step-children, David and Darla Webb of Queen Creek, Kris and Ron Graham of Kansas City, and Kurt and Susan Webb, her brothers, Orlin Hatch of Holbrook, Arizona and Melvin Hatch of Socorro New Mexico, 15 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Mom loved life, her family and her Heavenly Father. She was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served many years with energy and creativity in various capacities. She was proud of her missionary grandsons and granddaughter who have served in literally every corner of the world. Her family came first and she was a devoted mother and grandmother. Many of the grandchildren will remember how she would take each one separately for a "special day". How special they felt with their Grandma Iva! Mom had a lifelong love of learning. She received her BA in Home Economics and her MA in Adult Education at ASU. She loved to read and study and you could find a book on just about any topic in her home. She instilled that love of education in all of her children and grandchildren. If knowledge is all you can take with you, mom wanted to be well-prepared! A very special thank you to Steve and Sharon McRae at Golden Age Care Homes and all those there who cared for mom, and to Hospice of the Valley. Their gentleness, kindness and love will always be remembered and was truly appreciated by all of Iva's family. Funeral services were held Thursday, April 29, 2004, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Udall Ward, 525 E. 2nd Ave., Mesa, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Taylor Cemetery, Taylor, Arizona, on Saturday, May 1, 2004. Published in the Arizona Republic from 4/27/2004 - 4/28/2004.
