Black’s Show Low Mortuary, Show Low, Arizona Paul Joseph Bradford (September 8, 1930 - April 20, 2013) Rear Admiral Paul Joseph Bradford M.D., D.D.S., “Doc”, 82, went to be in his heavenly home on April 20, 2013. He was the loving husband of Jane Dorothy Bradford (Heitert, Allen) for 18 years and proud father of 3 children from a previous marriage: Annette Bradford, Grant Spoon, Patty Grajewski and one step-daughter: Kimberly Cacha. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Brendan Grajewski, Ryan Grajewski, Claire Davis and Evan Davis as well as step-grandchildren: Sasha Oxidine and Tyler Cacha and great grandchildren: Aliciea Oxidine and Adam Oxidine. Paul Joseph was born the first of two children (brother Lawrence deceased) September 8, 1930 in Hollywood, California to Martha (Bachman) Sweatman and Caughgey Laymond Sweatman (both deceased). Paul, a compassionate, patriotic, noble American, served on active duty for 33 years with the U.S. Navy. He served on hospital ships in Vietnam as a dental officer prior to becoming a M.D. Maxillofacial Surgeon. Paul’s love and respect for all military comrades is undying. On his days off Paul voluntarily went to orphanages to operate and help with the children. While in the Navy Paul taught medicine at a Japanese University. He became fluent in Japanese. Paul participated in a Pistol Competition in the 1960 Olympics for the Navy Pistol Team. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, movies, being with friends and was an active member of the Show Low VFW and Elks. Paul loved Sushi and enjoyed eating it at the Chalet in Pinetop/Lakeside. He has represented the US Navy in Veteran’s Day Parades, belonged to the VFW post 9907 Honor Guard. Paul graduated Phi Beta Kappa from USC, UCLA, Georgetown University and MD Anderson Cancer Center. Upon retirement Paul earned the rank of Rear Admiral. He was a member of Show Low VFW Post 9907, American Legion, Marine Corps League, the Elks in Show Low and the Show Low Masons. Paul was ALWAYS supportive, fun, loyal and a loving best friend and husband of Jane Bradford. After a long devastating illness (Agent Orange) Paul is at peace with God and his family and friends who proceeded him and waits for his wife Jane to join him. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 29, 2013 at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Show Low, with a rosary being said at 10:30 AM and the Funeral Mass at 11. Interment will be immediately following at St. Mary’s in Lakeside. A Memorial service will be held on May 9, 2013 at 12 PM at the VFW in Show Low.
