GOODMAN, Alvin Harold


Alvin Harold Goodman, 82, formerly of Flagstaff, died June 25, 2007, at his home in Grain Valley, Missouri. He died peacefully, surrounded by his family. He was born July 14, 1924, in Solomonville. Mr. Goodman was employed at Northern Arizona University from 1952 until 1960. He also worked at Brigham Young University where he served as department chair, conducted orchestras and bands and received numerous awards. Mr. Goodman was a member of the Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as president of the BYU Fifth Stake, Sunday School General Board, chair of the Executive Music Committee, Provo Temple presidency, England London mission president, Atlanta Temple president, and Kansas City Stake patriarch. Mr. Goodman is survived by his wife (and sweetheart) of 62 years, Naomi; daughter Karen Reeder of Provo, Utah; sons Steven (Claudia) of St. George, Utah, and Gordon (Lesli) of Grain Valley, Mo.; brothers Dean, Dale and Kenneth; 23 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Nicholas and Lena Marie O'Dell Goodman; and four grandchildren. Visitation and funeral services were at the Pleasant View LDS Chapel, 650 Stadium Ave., Provo, Utah. Wing Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
