Velma Hatch Jennings
Jennings, Velma Hatch passed away on May 18, 2011 in Mesa. She was born 15 March 1928 in Snowflake, AZ to Orlando W. Hatch and Viva Gardner as the second of seven children. She attended Phoenix College and Arizona State College, where she met Paul Jennings, her husband of 63 years.
Velma was a lifelong member of the LDS Church. She worked for the Mesa School District as a teaching aide, assistant secretary, and as a librarian.
She is survived by her husband, sons Terry (Marianne) and Gordon (Melinda), and daughters, Debbie Stapley (Robert), Paula Knight (Ronald Jr.) and Pamela Linkner (Andy), 18 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, Larry, Hal and Dale Hatch, and three sisters, Flora Porter, Janell Daves, and Lana Tucker.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Claire Jennings.
A viewing will be held Monday, May 23 from 6 p.m. to 8. p.m. at Meldrum mortuary, 55 N. McDonald, Mesa. Services Tuesday, May 24 at 10 a.m. at the LDS Chapel, 1455 N. Harris, Mesa, with viewing one hour before the service.
Graveside service and interment in the Snowflake Cemetery, 10 a.m. Wednesday.
