FORT DEFIANCE – Funeral services for Vay Marie Watchman, 39, of Fort Defiance, will be held Saturday, April 27, at 10 a.m. at The Family Church Assembly of God in Fort Defiance. Pastor Larry Harvey Sr. will officiate. Burial will follow at the family plot in Tunnel Springs, N.M.
Vay was born Feb. 15, 1974, in Fort Defiance, into the Mud Clan, for Coyote Pass Clan. She died April 18, 2013, in Naschitti, N.M.
Vay attended Navajo Pine High School and worked for McDonald's, Wendy's, KFC, Dairy Queen, and Taco Bell. She also worked as a laundry attendant and homecare giver. She was an NFL Steelers fan who loved doing puzzles, beading and Sudoku.
Vay is survived by her son, Kyle M. Benally of Mesa, Ariz.; daughters, Megan Hubbard of Fort Defiance, Roslynn Fuson, Calena Fuson and Calvina Fuson of Naschitti; mother, Julie Clarke; brother, Olin Watchman of Fort Defiance; sisters, Cheryl Begay of Tempe, Ariz., and Bonnie Mike of Fort Defiance; and grandparents, Nellie Laughlin and Julie Price.
Pallbearers will be Loren Begay, Olin Watchman, Larry Harvey Jr., Fabian Cromwell, Chuck Young, Nelson Wauneka, Melvin Young, and Ray Jimenez.
Honorary pallbearers will be Julian Laughlin Sr., Kyle Benally, Willard Price, Julie Price, Raymond Malone Sr., Ivarene Price, Stacey Price, Danelle Price, Cheryl Begay, and Bonnie Mike.
A reception will be held at the Tunnel Springs Fellowship Center following services.
