ST. MICHAELS, Ariz. – Funeral services for Betty F. James, of Ganado, Ariz., will be held today, April 25, at 10 a.m. at the Mary Mother of Mankind Church in St. Michaels, Ariz. Burial will follow in Ganado.
Betty was born April 25, 1938, in Ganado, Ariz., into the Naakai dine'é Clan, for Tsénjikini Clan. She died April 21, 2013, in Phoenix.
Betty attended Ganado Mission and Fort Defiance Indian School. She retired from the Navajo Nation Head Start Program. She enjoyed family, relatives and song and dances.
Betty is survived by his sons, Ronald Lander, Donald Lander, Clifford Lander, and Davidson James; daughters, Francine Lander, Georgia Lander, Christine Jones, and Davina James; and 25 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents and siblings.
Pallbearers will be Travis Jones, Lance Jones, Jerelson Lander, Lydell Lander, Olin Billie, and Eugene James.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald, Donald and Clifford Lander and Davidson James.
A reception will be held at the All Saints Hall in Ganado following services.
Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
