The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Saturday, April 27, 2013 Barbara Elizabeth Augsburger Calhoon Barbara Elizabeth Calhoon, born June 22, 1921, in Adams County, Ind., to Joel and Ida Stucky Augsburger, passed away in Prescott, Ariz., on April 22, 2013. She enjoyed growing up on a farm and going to a one-room, eight-grade elementary school. She graduated from Geneva High School in 1939 and went directly into St. Joseph's Nursing School in Fort Wayne, graduating in 1942. In October 1943, she joined the Army Nurses Corps as a first lieutenant. She was sent to the Mariana Islands in August 1945 where she met her future husband Glen. She was separated from the service in December 1946. She and Glen went their separate ways but kept in touch and were married in Los Angeles in 1948. They settled in Florida where their only child Todd was born in Coral Gables. After a vacation in the Rocky Mountains, they decided to move West and settled in Prescott in 1964. Enjoying their surroundings, they bought property on Miller Valley Road and started the business, which became the Attic Hogan. Their son Todd joined the business in 1972. Barbara continued her nursing career at the Prescott Veterans Administration Hospital, retiring in 1981. After Glen passed away in 1991, Todd continued the business until his death in September 2012. Having survived all her siblings, Barbara is survived by her daughter-in-law Pam; grandsons Brett and Devin; and a number of nieces and nephews. A private family service will be held according to Barbara's wishes. Barbara requested memorials to Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars or Samaritan's Purse.
