GOGAN, III, William L. (Bill)


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Saturday, April 27, 2013 William L. Gogan III, 55, of Oro Valley, Ariz., died Sunday, April 21, 2013, at the Oro Valley Hospital. Bill was born July 11, 1957, in Ord, Neb., to William and Gladys Gogan. He received his education in the Ord Public School System, graduating in 1975. During his high school career, Bill excelled in several sports, which culminated in his participation in the Nebraska Shrine Bowl football game, where he was named the Most Valuable Offensive Player for the North squad in 1975. Following graduation, he attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. In the early 1980s, Billy moved to California, where he developed his lifelong passion for food (culinary interests) and the movie industry (writing screenplays). He later relocated to Arizona, ultimately opening and managing the Monsoon restaurants in Flagstaff, Sedona and Prescott, Ariz. In his journey, he met and befriended people from all different paths of life, and was fortunate to have made many friends and special memories. His keen sense of humor and sharp wit will be sorely missed by all. Survivors include his mother, Gladys Gogan of Ord and Oro Valley; brother Neal (Tracy) Gogan of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; sisters Jane Johnson of Salida, Colo., and Nancy (Tim) Beer of Tucson, Ariz.; nieces and nephews Derek and Riley Johnson, Lindsay and Ben Gogan and Zoe and Alexander Beer, who affectionately called him Uncle Teaser. He was preceded in death by his father William L. Gogan Jr., grandparents Helen ("Gram") and Frank Kokes, and William and Antoinette Gogan. In lieu of donations, the family requests that Billy's friends and acquaintances make a special effort to help someone less fortunate than themselves find their way to a better place, as Billy was known to have done.
