Lula Bradshaw Erickson, age 102, died on April 11, 2010.
She was born on January 22, 1908 in Phoenix, Territory of Arizona. She was the third of four daughters (Myrtle, Hazel, Lula, Anna) of William W. and Dora M. Bradshaw, who owned a dairy farm in the Murphy district.
Lula worked as a secretary and cashier at Pacific Mutual Life Insurance Company prior to her marriage to Jacob Erickson on March 5, 1937. Her husband, who had a long career as a highway engineer with the Federal Highway Administration (then the U. S. Bureau of Public Roads), died December 18, 1982 after 45 years of marriage.
Lula provided volunteer services to the PTA, Orangewood Presbyterian Church (where she was a founding member), Arizona Cactus-Pine Girl Scout Council, John C. Lincoln Hospital, and The Terraces retirement community. In 1967, she was awarded the Girl Scouts' Thanks Badge, the highest award given to adults. She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Roberta S. Erickson of Beaverton, Oregon and several nieces and nephews in the greater Phoenix area.
A gathering in her memory will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, April 17, in the Memorial Garden at Orangewood Presbyterian Church, 7321 N. 10th Street.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the church or Hospice of the Valley.
