Beth Arlene Hoss passed away on November 15, 2012 in Mesa, Arizona.
Born in Rice County, Kansas to James and Rosabell (nee Hobick) Connery, Beth arrived on January 24, 1932. She graduated from Lyons High School in Lyons, Kansas. Beth also attended some college courses at Sterling College. Beth was a member of the Paellas State Organization, which taught people the proper etiquette on entertaining.
While in Kansas, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She married the love of her life, Dan, and they were married in Tucumcari, New Mexico on December 30, 1949. Together they shared a great love. Her beautiful smile brightened whenever Dan came around.
She was a family woman to the core. She cared so deeply for her children and grandchildren. Her love for her family was not her only love. Beth also had an amazing passion for animals. She adored dogs.
For over 60 years, Beth played Bridge with the Lyons and Gold Canyon Bridge Clubs. She also served as President of Gold Canyon Garden Club early in the club's history and remained as advisor throughout the years. Beth worked relentlessly on the development, maintenance, and continuous funding of the Butterfly Garden in Gold Canyon. Beth loved the Blue Star Memorial Project honoring our Military and was determined to place one in our community. She was successful.
On November 5, 2011, a Blue Star Memorial Marker was dedicated at the Superstition Mountain Museum in Apache Junction. Beth served as Eastern District Director and was currently serving her second consecutive term as First Vice President of Arizona Garden Clubs, representing Arizona for National Garden Clubs. Beth was a mentor, a friend, and a force in her community. She will be greatly missed.
Beth is survived by her adoring husband, Dan Hoss of Gold Canyon, loving children Lane Hoss, wife Jody, and Lynne Saunders, husband Gene, both of Wichita, Kansas, 3 grandchildren Brandon, Justin, and Erica, and 1 great grandchild Rosa.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park and Funeral Care 6747 East Broadway Road Mesa, Arizona 85206 (480)830-4422.
