Death Summons Comes Quick As A Flash
A. L. Lowe, Colored Barber, Drops Dead on Street While Going to His Home
A. L. Lowe, proprietor of the Depot Barber Shop, dropped dead on the corner of Moeller and Mt. Vernon Streets yesterday at about 12:30 o'clock as he was going to his home on Virginia Street for his noon day meal.
His affliction was heart disease, due to a complication of ills, in which Bright's disease was given as the cause. He was seen to stagger and fall, and in less than a minute afterward when his body was reached, life was extinct. He had been complaining recently of heart trouble, and when he left his shop informed a friend that he would travel slow as his breathing was difficult and he would not return until after 2 o'clock.
Mr. Lowe was one of the best known colored barbers of this city, of genial personality and industrious in habits. He came here about ten years ago. He leaves a widow and five children.
The body is at Ruffner's to be prepared for burial.
