PERRY, David Scott (Dave)

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Friday, May 03, 2013 David Scott Perry, a spirited, resilient and engaging man whose impact will far exceed his time on Earth, passed away April 29, 2013, at the young age of 48. Adopted at the age of 4 weeks by Lloyd and Norma Perry, Dave and his family were residents of Oakland, Calif. In 1978, the family moved to Plymouth, where Dave would spend his mischievous childhood years. After graduating from Amador County High School in 1983, his path led him to the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany. After his time in the Army, Dave returned to California to join the Air Force Reserves and begin college coursework. Little did he know at the time that this would also alter his destiny: It was there that he would meet his future wife and love of his life, Jennifer Terry, a gregarious student who would give him a run for his money. Dave's interests shaped his personality and belief system into one that emphasized a love for adventure, integrity and selflessness. The two married and moved to different parts of the country before calling Arizona home. A loving and dedicated husband as well as an involved and devoted father to his daughters, he took great pride in the responsibilities that each role presented. The consummate storyteller and people person, Dave settled into a sales career in law enforcement. Throughout his career, Dave earned a reputation for his winning personality, warm smile and great sense of humor. In his spare time he loved camping and spending time in the outdoors with his girls and friends. A connoisseur of good food, he spent countless hours creating and perfecting recipes and sharing his cooking secrets with friends. An avid sports fan, Dave perfected the use of colorful language while rooting on his favorite teams the Raiders, Saints, A's and Oregon State Beavers. Some say legacy is etched into the minds of others and the stories they share about you. There was no such thing as a stranger to David; he was blessed to have gained many friends throughout the years, and though his untimely passing will leave a hole in the hearts of many, his legacy will carry on through shared stories and laughter. David Perry is survived by his wife of 24 years, Jenny; daughters Courtney Grace (23) and Jesserae (15); mother Norma Perry; and siblings Traci Perry and Nancy Voss. A celebration of life in his honor will be noon Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Granite Mountain Brewery, 123 N. Cortez St., Prescott, Ariz. Please join friends and family from near and far to raise a glass in his honor. The Dave Perry Memorial fund has been established to assist and support the care of his daughters. The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, you consider making donations in Dave's memory at any Wells Fargo bank location. Information provided by survivors.
