Today' News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Posted: Friday, May 3, 2013 >> Don Evan Hoag << >> March 28, 1932 – April 24, 2013 << Don Evan Hoag, Lake Havasu City resident since 2012, passed away April 24. Born in Orange, Calif. to Frank Hoag and Fay Stuckey; married Marion Joan Spivey in 1953, and served in the Air Force at Fairchild AFB, SAC Command, Spokane, Wash. until 1956. He worked in the construction hardware business in Orange until 1976, and then moved to Yreka, Calif., owning Yreka Janitorial Service until retirement at age 78. Don, an avid drummer from age 5, entertained with his group, The Knights of Note, for over 40 years in Orange County. He was a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America and earned the highest honor of The Silver Beaver for his contributions for over 20 years of service in the Santiago Boy Scout Council. He served as President of Sunrise Little League in Orange, was on the board and coached softball in both Orange and Yreka. He was an avid fisherman known as the “man that could catch a fish on demand.” His wife, Joan, and son, Frank, preceded him in death. Survived by children, Chandra West and Tom Hoag, Lake Havasu City and Deborah Hoag and Tim Hoag, Yreka; grandchildren, Ashley Sherman, William Hoag, Heather Lewis, Rebecca Lewis, Travis Williams, Christopher Hoag and Mackenzie Hoag; great-grandchildren, Ahnalyssa, Kira, Kainen, Zoe Ella, Ahva and Cadin. He was a man that gave more than he took, touched the lives of hundreds of children through scouts and sports, helped anyone in need, loved hard and strong, worked harder all of his life than any one man should have had to and was richer than the wealthiest with the return he received. He left this world a better place than he found it and the space he leaves will be impossible to fill.
