Patrick D. O'Connell, 81, of Scottsdale, passed away on Wednesday April 14, 2004.
Patrick (Pat) was born the only child to Norman and Orpha O'Connell in Crookston, Minnesota on October 31, 1922, but he grew up in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
Pat attended the University of North Dakota, was a member of the Sigma Tau Fraternity and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served as an Army officer during World War II and the Korean War. Following the wars, he became a licensed contractor in California and Arizona and retired in 1985. Pat was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, University of North Dakota Alumni Association and Scottsdale Bible Church.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Micki; his son and wife, Craig and Cindy O'Connell of Scottsdale and sons Christian, Kelly and Scott; daughter and husband Steve and Nancy Fry of Nashville, TN and their children Cameron, Kelsey and Caleigh.
Memorial service Monday, April 19, 2004, at Scottsdale Bible Church Chapel, 7901 E. Shea Blvd. Scottsdale, AZ 85260. Gravesite ceremony Tuesday April 20 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 Cave Creek Rd. Phoenix, AZ. Chaplain John South officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St. Phoenix 85014. Messinger Indian School Mortuary assisted with the arrangements.
