JONES, Ellen Lavina

Vining Funeral Home, Safford, Arizona Ellen Lavina Jones January 1, 1949 ~ May 1, 2013 Ellen was born on New Year's Day 1949 in Altuna, Kansas, to Edna and Dale West. At the age of 10 she moved to Chico, California where she completed High School. Ellen then attended Brigham Young University where she married Melvin R. Jones on September 3, 1971. Following her graduation, she moved to Brea, California with her husband and new little girl Korilynn. While living in California, she was blessed with Jeremy, Ryan, Kimberly and Chad. In 1984, Ellen relocated to Thatcher with her family and welcomed two more children, Shawn and Kassandra. In 2000, she moved her family to Buena Vista, Virginia for three years, returning to Thatcher in 2003. Ellen was a wonderful homemaker where she loved cooking, sewing and quilting. She was constantly involved in different community endeavors such as the County Fair, the Community Food Bank, the Quilting Guild, and various Church callings over the years. Ellen is survived by: her husband, Melvin; seven children, Korilynn, Jeremy, Ryan, Kimberly, Chad, Shawn and Kassandra; and eleven grandchildren. Ellen passed away, Monday morning, May 1, 2013, in Tucson.
