HOWELL, Joy Ann

(Maiden Name: Fairbairn)

Kingman Daily Miner, Kingman, AZ - Published on May 10, 2013 - Joy Ann Fairbairn-Howell and her two sons, Jesse Jorge Howell and Justin Joaquin Howell, died on Sunday, May 5, 2013, in a head-on collision on U.S. 95 on the way home from a rabbit show in Reno. They were long-time residents of Golden Valley and attended Kingman Christian Church. All three were highly involved in 4-H, Joy as a goat project leader/director, Jesse and Justin as participants. Joy was born June 13, 1979, in Santa Clara, Calif., to Timothy Fairbairn and Lisa Nelson. She met James Anthony Howell (Tony) on her 19th birthday. Joy was known for bringing an exemplary work ethic and dedication to everything she did, be it home schooling her two sons, working with 4-H and the church, or simply being there for her loved ones. She embodied her name, always bringing joy to others in their hard times. Joy had just finished her last class to obtain her CPA certificate and was planning to use it to start her own accounting business. Jesse was born Feb. 4, 2000, in San Diego. He was good with his hands, following in his father's footsteps as a competent mechanic. He loved his animals, raising everything from hamsters to goats to rabbits. He was gentle and quietly loving to all he encountered. He always made sure that other people were OK before looking to himself. Justin was born June 4, 2003, in San Diego. He was a ball of energy, always smiling and bringing brightness to any room. He was artistic, with art that won awards at fairs and a love of music. He helped with the animals, raising horses, goats, gerbils, reptiles and rabbits. His rabbit had just won first place at the rabbit show. His smile could melt the coldest hearts in record time. Joy, Jesse and Justin are survived by husband/father, Tony, and his son James; grandparents, Tim (Anne) Fairbairn, Lisa (George) Nelson and Steve (Cindy) Mintz and Joan Howell; Joy's siblings, Heather, Tara, Tim Jr., Alicia, Alanna and Ian; and Tony's siblings, Colin and Robert, Margarite, Bart and Ronnie. The service for them will be held Sunday, May 12, at Kingman Christian Church. It will begin at 1 p.m. with time to fellowship and share memories. At 5 p.m. the formal service will start, with a potluck dinner afterwards.
