He attended Fort Thomas Elementary School and later Fort Thomas High School, where he participated in athletics including football, basketball and baseball. During his senior year, Kolby had the best statistics of any small school quarterback in the state of Arizona. He had the privilege of having two of his brothers with him on the football team. Following his graduation from Fort Thomas High School, Kolby enrolled at Eastern Arizona College for a year prior to serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the South Dakota Rapid City Mission. Kolby soon returned home and gained employment with the U.S. Forest Service, managing the rancher’s ranges. They were sealed for time and all eternity on July 8, 2005 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. To this union were joined two daughters, Raeleigh Aileen and Carter Grace.
