AUSTIN, John Florea

Lake Havasu Mortuary & Crematory - Lake Havasu City, AZ - John Florea Austin, 89, passed away at his home in Lake Havasu City, AZ. on Monday, September 19, 2005. He was born on December 10, 1915 in Richmond, Texas to Joseph and Louise Austin. John lost his father as a young boy and moved to Detroit, Michigan with his Mother and sisters. He lived there until he graduated from High School and then traveled back to Richmond to be part of his father's extended family. On a trip back to Detroit, he met and fell head over heels in Love with Ann Louis Moore. They were married in Houston, Texas on April 15, 1941. Soon therefafter, he enlisted in the United Stated Air Force and eventually gave 28 years of service to his country. He had a great love of sports and he excelled at golf, skiing and swimming. He and his wife lived in Winter Park, Colorodo and while there he reached an achievement with a lot of glee and that was to be 70 years old and skiing for free. He was known throughout the Colorado valley as the gentleman who skied beautifully and always wore a Stetson hat while on the slopes. He and his wife had five children and as a large family they moved all over the world together and had many great adventures. John traveled extensively throughout his life and was given the opportunity to meet and know many people who enriched his life. John is survived by his 3 children, Pamela, Stephanie and John and his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Ann Austin and two sons, Patrick and Lance. Viewing will be held at Lake Havasu Mortuary Chapel on Friday, September 23, 2005 from 6:00 - 8:30 PM with Funeral Service following on Saturday, September 24, 2005 at 1:00 PM with Chaplain Jeremy Wells officiating.
