Rudolph “Rudy” Ramirez, a lifelong resident of Willcox, died April 17, 2013 at the age of 86. He was born in Willcox on Jan. 28, 1927 to Cruz Ramirez and Juanita Rodriguez Ramirez.
Rudy served in the U.S. Navy during WW II, was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, St. Vincent DePaul and part of the Cursillista Group through the church. He was also a member of the Willcox Elks Lodge #2131, Past State Commander of the VFW, and was a longtime member of the VETS Club and American Legion. Rudy also was a Little League coach. He retired from SSVEC as an electrical surveyor on Jan. 28, 1989 after 37 years.
On April 14, 1950 he married Stella Garcia who survives him. Also surviving are his daughters Cynthia Fuller and Priscilla Miles, both of Willcox, and Rosemary Bonnett of Charlotte, N.C.; and his sons Rudy Joe Ramirez of Willcox and Randy Ramirez of Holbrook, Ariz. Rudy also has 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; his brother Robert (Pat) Ramirez and his sister Mary Lou Valenzuela surviving.
Preceding him in death was a son Philip Ramirez, a son-in-law Ed Fuller, his parents, seven brothers and two sisters.
A Rosary will be offered at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 29, at Westlawn Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Rudy’s name to Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.westlawnchapelmortuary.com.
